ALLAMERICAN REASON, FLORIST WIN SATURDAY FEATURES


DOVER, Del.--- Allamerican Reason scored a 1:53.2 victory in the $17,300 Male feature while Florist closed fastest in the $15,500 distaff feature at Dover Downs on Saturday, March 29. Tony Morgan and Jim Morand registered driving triples.

 

Trainer Mike Hall picked up his second win of the night when Corey Callahan drove Allamerican Reason to his second win of the year in the Delaware Male pace for owners David Krol and Pohl Lander Farms. Josh’s Z Tam (Tony Morgan), the race favorite, finished second. Flat Out Lucky (Roger Plante) made a big effort three wide around the final turn and took third money.

 

Steady campaigner Florist, a Rustler Hanover four-year-old, came on with a rush to win the Delaware 4&5-Year-Old Mare pace, her third win of the year. Co-owners Ben Stafford, trains and Ben Stafford, Jr. drove the winner to a new mark of 1:54.4. Whammy Hanover (Ross Wolfenden) also flashed late speed to finish second in front of pacesetting Art Sizzles (Eddie Davis Jr.), the third finisher.

 

George Dennis sent Fivedollarsforsox three wide at the three quarters to loop the field and then pulled away for a 1:57 victory in an $11,500 feature trot. Ask W Stables and George & Tina Dennis Inc. own the SJ’s Caviar gelding in his first winners-circle visit of the year. Tug River Man (Ross Wolfenden) was second with Stone Cold Steve (Brandon Givens) third.

 

All This Snazz, owned by trainer Glenn Wilson, equaled his career best as Jim Morand scored his second win on the card  Ritzy Rip (Tim Curtin) closed well to finish second in front of Sears Tower (Vic Kirby).

 

Gateway Stable’s Mr. Fit dashed down the lane under the urging of Jonathan Roberts to post a 1:53.3 victory in a $20,000 Claiming pace. Iwannabesedated (Corey Callahan) closed to within a half-length of the winner. Rapid Dialing (Jim Morand) was the show horse.     

 

Through meet closing day, April 10, live racing begins at 5:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. No live racing next Friday and Saturday. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant 302-674-4600.
