SAINT JOHNS BOY, ONE TIM TETRICKS SEVEN WINS, IN $25,000 TROT
DOVER, Del ---Tim Tetrick continued his “hot hand” driving seven winners including Saint Johns Boy to win the $25,000 feature. George Dennis took care of the two semi-feature races guiding Go Sassy Go in the $22,000 and Fivedollarsforsox in a upset in the $21,000 Winners-Over trot on the penultimate day of the Dover Downs meet on Wednesday, April 9.
Horseman Ken Wood celebrated his return from another humanitarian mission digging well in Ghana to see two horses he owns notch wins.
In the $25,000 Winners-Over trot, Tim Tetrick made good use of staring from the rail putting M&M Harness Racing’s Saint Johns Boy into the early lead and the Lindy Lane gelding had to hold off a determined Broke As Usual A, piloted by Roger Plante, from the last turn until mid stretch in 1:55.3 for his fourth win of the year. Moneyball closed for Mike Cole along the passing lane to edge Broke As Usual A for second-place honors.
Go Sassy Go, a Delbert Cain homebred daughter of CR Commando proved again she was the top local trotting mare at the meet when George Dennis won his second of the three top trots, the $22,000 Winners-Over in a lifetime fastest 1:54.2. Dennis rolled the six-year-old away from post 8 to get the lead and then overpowered seven rivals to win her fourth of the meet. Lady Segil N was second with Tim Tetrick driving. Jessie Hall and Tony Morgan came on to finish third.
Fivedollarsforsox, overlooked at 11-1 after a similar victory last week, repeated his tactics moving three wide at the three quarters and then pulled away to notch a 1:56.1 conquest in the $21,000 conditioned trot. George Dennis trains and drives the SJ’s Caviar gelding that he owns with Tina Dennis and Ask Stable. Customize rolled in second for Sam Belote with Nikki’s Game and Jim King third.
Mighty Moses, owned by Ken Wood with Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta, won the $16,500 conditioned trot with a near wire-to-wire 1:57 victory, one of three for driver Jim Morand. Spunky Sue (Eddie Davis Jr.) scooted along the passing lane for second money. Twin B Tween (Tony Morgan) was the third place finisher.
Bob Shahan took Diane Harrison’s Maid To Command right to the lead and led every step of a 1:56.2 mile in a $13,200 Delaware trot. Tug River Man (Tim Tetrick) challenged the winner after the half and held to finish second in front of Victory Starburst (Tony Morgan).
On the pacing side, Jim Morand drove Ritchie Y to his first win of the meet turning in 1:54.2 clocking, the best of the Badlands Hanover gelding’s career. Mike Horn, Charles Bonham and Bobby Rice own the winner. Bad Affair (George Dennis), second, and Buddy Fit He Iz (Vic Kirby), third, were separated by the photo finish camera.
Tim Tetrick picked up owner Ken Wood’s other winner, guiding Desmet to a lifetime equaling 1:51.4 victory in a $30,000 claimer. Mattsamack (Corey Callahan) was a strong second. Loveofsamslife (Vic Kirby) was the show horse.
Foulk Stables’ Tyler A recorded his fifth win of the meet as Tetrick again got to the winner’s circle after a 1:52.1 win. CR Shanghai (Jonathan Roberts) charged down the lane to finish second. Scootin Scholar (Brandon Givens) took third.
