Artie Shaw Rich Chiaraluce
Artie Shaw was a leading musician of the swing period who produced several big hits including Cole Porter’s “Begin the Beguine,” “Frenesi,” featured in the Hollywood film Second Chorus, and “Summit Ridge Drive.”
The full range of his gifts is especially displayed in his recording “Concerto for Clarinet” from 1940. While in the US Navy during WWII, Shaw led a new band throughout the Pacific war zone in 1943, which produced the classic “Little Jazz.” Following a series of studio recordings and band reconfigurations, Shaw retired in 1954. Today the band is fronted by Rich Chiaraluce.
